Purpose and goals of the I&C testing site
The I&C Testing Site is designed for ground testing of the I&C components (subsystems, SHWC, SHW), representative complexes of I&C and its hardware for power units of nuclear and thermoelectric power plants being in operation and under construction in Russia and abroad.
The major I&C testing site tasks are as follows:
-
tests associated with the human-machine interface (HMI) of I&C;
- tests associated with the basic software of the top level system;
- tests associated with the interfaces between top and low level automation;
- tests associated with the system - functional and operational characteristics of the I&C (in decision-making stage of readiness subsystems for delivery to NPP);
- tests associated with the application software of the TLS-U (working databases and special problems);
- testing and optimization of the application software based on software, including in the circuit with TLS-U and design full-scale dynamic mathematical model (DFSDMM);
- verification and validation of the designed solutions on the plant control;
- improvement of the system operating procedures and documentation;
- improvement of commissioning testing and adjustment methods;
- training of the personnel of the adjustment companies and NPP;
- support of I&C operation.

The I&C Testing Site involves:
- basic subject of testing (Representative complex of the I&C prototype for NPP with VVER-1000 reactor);
- instrumental and testing complex (ITC);
- maintenance systems, including power supply system for ITC and testing objects.
The basic subject of testing
The basic object of testing is a Representative complex of the prototype I&C of new generation for NPP with VVER-1000 reactor including representative parts of basic systems.
Since 1997, works under the creation of the Russian-designed modern I&C for Water-cooled Reactors were deployed in Minatom of Russia. The first practical application of this I&C was unit number 1 of the «Bushehr» NPP(Iran).
In the time of realization of this leading project:
-
for the first time I&C was developed as a common system;
- according to the normative documentation, stages of the I&C development - «Terms of Reference» (ToR), «Technical Project» (TP), «Working documentation» (WD) – were carried out;
- the most prepared enterprise of the developers / manufacturers / suppliers were attracted;
- in the frame of the Technical Project the effective management scheme of the I&C creation was developed and it is realized with the direct participation of the JSC "EREC";
- new Russian-designed I&C software for NPP were developed;
- the strategy of creation, testing, delivery and putting into operation of I&C components - was applied;
- the I&C Testing Site was created and it is effectively used; this I&C Testing Site is a means of development of the system and an instrument for support of commissioning works and the I&C operation at NPP;
- licensing of the project and independence from Western developers of software and hardware were ensured.

Plans of JSC “EREC” to use the I&C Testing Site
Justifiability of a strategy of I&C creation for the «Bushehr» NPP was confirmed by numerous missions of the IAEA (4 missions were conducted at the I&C Testing Site and were devoted to consideration of the results of the engineering design and I&C tests). This strategy was adopted by CJSC «Atomstroyexport» under the management of Minatom / Rosatom.
In the frame of this strategy the JSC "EREC" successfully executes the common complex of works under the I&C (coordination of delivery – putting integration tests into effect - putting into operation). This complex is aimed at a final result of the project – at a turn over the system «under a key».
The JSC "EREC" is a scientific and engineering center, which has at its disposal so powerful means of system’s creation as the I&C Testing Site. The JSC "EREC" intends to fully realize its potential to new NPP projects in Russia and abroad interest.
