       The task of the JSC «EREC» Division of the Research Automation Systems is to solve the problems on the development, adjustment, commissioning and support of non-standard computer-based systems.
       The main objective of the Division of the Research Automation Systems is to ensure research experiments on the test facilities available.

Purpose of the Division of the Research Automation Systems

  • Development, commissioning, operation, modernization and/or updating of the information-measuring systems (IMS) and I&C of the test facilities;
  • Support of state-of-the-art research compliance of the software and hardware complexes (SHWC) and soft- and hardware of IMS and I&C with the last domestic and worldwide progress in science and engineering;
  • Direct participation in the testing process in respect of support the test facilities instrumentation and control as per the programme and methodical documentation;
  • Participation in the development of IMS and I&C SHWC of the test facilities;
  • Organization and performance of IMS and I&C SHWC installation on the test facilities;
  • Conduct of the start-up and adjustment and re pairing activity on the moderated and newly implemented equipment;
  • Development and updating of technical and working design documentation for adjustment of IMS and I&C SHWC on the test facilities;
  • Development of instructions, programmes, procedures and techniques for adjustment of IMS and I&C SHWC of the test facilities.
  • Study and generalization of domestic and foreign experience in establishment of SHWC and SHW.

Possibilities of the Research Automation System Division

  • Establishment of local and measuring distribution systems, and automation systems for large, medium and small objects;
  • Selection and delivery of basis software and hardware, associated items as well as their warranty, post-warranty service and engineering support, training of users;
  • Analysis of technological processes at the enterprise and development of the automation methods;
  • Consultative aid on the development and use of the automation system;
  • Performance of turnkey projects or participation in the projects of Customer-integrators.

       The Research Automation System Division involves highly-qualified engineers and programmers with long experience in the development of the automation systems on the basis of domestic and foreign hardware. A special attention is paid to engineering support of the systems established at the objects of implementation as well as to the staff training.
       The Research Automation System Division disposes a wide range of license software tools for the development of application software of industrial controllers (CASE-system), instrument control panels and AWS of different purpose (SCADA-system).

Results

       In 1999, for the execution of the experimental international Programme TACIS/PHARE, the AS BC V-213 (325 measuring channels, 65 control objects, sampling frequency to 1000 Hz) was commissioned, see also.
       In 2000, the research automation system and APCS of the PSB-VVER test facility (1000 measuring channels, 350 control objects, sampling frequency to 20 Hz) were updated, see also.
       In 2002, the computer-aided test operation system (CTOS) of the thermal condition support system for the propulsion system designed by FSUE «Krasnaya Zvezda» was developed.
       In 2003, the module distribution system on the basis of standard data transfer interface RS-485 was introduced in the ION-1 testbed
(see also).
       For control automation of V-3 heat-mechanic equipment (see also), I&C of the heat-mechanic equipment and water chemistry was created in 2003.
       In 2003-2004, off-line adjustment and commissioning of the TKR automation distribution system (see also) was carried out.
       For automation of thermo-hydraulic process investigations in the PSB-RBMK test facility, the NPP detail and working designs including software development (see also) was realized. At present, starting-up and adjustment of the AS PSB-RBMK equipment has being executed.
       In 2004-2005, the activity on the development and commissioning of the computer-aided system of the test facility used for testing full-scale section of steam generator SMART-R manufactured by DOOSAN company (South Korea) was performed.
       In 2004-2007, the computer-aided test operation system was created for testing valves at LEI JSC «Chekhov plant of energy engineering» used for the test operation automation of special and industrial valves for the thermal and nuclear power plants.
       In 2008, the computer-aided system of the test facility «Heat transfer and hydrodynamic processes in the fuel elements of the reactor» was created and mounted in the MEI (TU). This test facility used for study of heat transfer in rod assembly of fuel channels’ simulations of different structures during cooling them by distilled water with a pressure of 7-16 MPa, including the boiling crisis and boundaries of the hydraulic instability of the SG channels.
       In the same year the Research Automation System Division for test facilities of the department’s NPP MEI (TU) laboratory «Thermo-hydraulics of nuclear power plants» was created. This laboratory includes:

  • the test facility for the investigation of flow regimes of two-phase flow in a vertical channel;
  • the test facility for the investigation of flow regimes of two-phase flow in a horizontal channel;
  • the test facility for the investigation of counter-current flow in the elements of the circulation circuit;
  • the test facility for investigation of bubbling in a big capacity.

Prospects

       Substantial experience of the experts from the Division of Research Automation System in combination with continuous activity on implementation of evolutionary techniques makes it possible to fulfill non-standard tasks on automation and maintenance of non-standard objects in different branches of industry.
